![]() ![]() The Yamaha PSRE-333 is a 61-key MIDI workstation, with built-in speakers and analog line outs so it can stand alone, and it's $160. No experience with them, but there's one at a nearby GC so I will definitely be dropping by to give it a look for my own low-end studio.īeyond that, you're probably best off looking for a keyboard and separate MIDI pad controller. ![]() The M-Audio Axiom line does look good 25, 49 and 61-key frames, each with 8 pads, 8 assignable knob encoders and (on 49 and 61-key frames) a bank of fader encoders. Keep in mind there are zero analog audio outputs from these you must have a DAW or other MIDI synth to translate the output to something audible. I do not know how integratable the controls are with a DAW, to act as an ITB control surface, but if you can find a showroom example it certainly can't hurt to give them a try. ![]() If you realize that and are willing to work around it, there are some pretty good options.Ī quick search finds the Arturia brand of "all-in-one" controllers they have everything from a $100 25-key "MiniLab" up to a $400 61-key "KeyLab", each with a 16-pad drum/patch controller bank and an array of encoder knobs/faders. Under $500, feature sets are limited 88-key keyboards are rare, and the ones that have them don't have pad controllers or assignable encoders built-in.
